A ABORDAGEM DOS CONCEITOS DE SUBSTÂNCIA, MISTURA E DENSIDADE UTILIZANDO OS FUNDAMENTOS DAS MÚLTIPLAS REPRESENTAÇÕES

The Approach Of The Substance Of Concepts, Mixture And Density Using The Basics Of Multiple Representations

Abstract

Considering the science teaching approach, it is noticed that students are exposed to different forms of representations which are embedded in scientific discourse and also present in the curriculum matrices’ prescribed content. The practice of these representational modes, if used in an integrated manner during the teaching process, may be the fundamental condition to enable better comprehension in science education by a greater number of students, including chemistry teaching. The multiplicity of representation therefore meets one of the great problems which currently reach educational institutions: the huge socio-cultural diversity of subjects that constitute the same school class. This research, having as target students from the first grade of secondary education in a public school, sought to discuss the implications of different symbolic speeches in chemistry teaching considering the concepts of substance, mixture and density through the line of Multiple Representations investigation to increase the number of students with better comprehension of science. Two strategies were used to represent these concepts, and both showed different impacts on the relation of students with different symbols used by different representational methods on the same concepts of chemistry. It also shows that each representational method does not become universally applicable in educational practice unless it is integrated with other methods, since each method allows you to explore different inferences about the same topic.
