Abstract

The indigenous question is present as a transversal theme in the National Curricular Parameters (PCN) and is obligatory in educational establishments, according to the Law of guidelines and bases of education (LDB). Still, it is sometimes overlooked or biased in class. With this in mind, a class proposal was developed during the course Methodology of Botany Teaching, of the licentiate course in Biological Sciences of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). This article presents an account of the activity, which addressed the theme "Interactions between plants and animals" in dialogue with an indigenous culture, through the Kamayurás narrative about an origin of pequi. This activity was presented by means of a projection of drawings, which made the proposal more playful and dynamic, followed by a discussion initiated with problem-questions formulated from the narrative. In the last stage there was a problematization and deepening of these concepts and finally, classmates were asked to evaluate the lesson and its application through its positive and negative points. Through the discussions and reflections made from the critics of the students it was possible to perceive that the activity is able to dialogue the culture and indigenous knowledge with the proposed scientific content, besides showing itself to be a creative alternative that can substitute expository classes.
