Abstract

The Brazilian Language of Signs (BLS), considered as the natural language of deaf people in Brazil, works in a gestural - visual way similarly to any other language, with syntactic, semantic and morphological structures, together other aspects. It is by means of this language that deaf students interact with the listeners. When studying the subject of Chemistry in high school, it is observed the lack of signals for many scientific concepts, hindering the learning of the deaf students. This work makes an analysis of some signs according to the gestuality taking into account the parameters proposed by Mc Neill. It was analysed the following signs: acid, electrons, gaseous, ions, metal, neutrons, protons, solid, water and periodic table.
