Abstract

The present research had as objective to analyze and to develop some experiments during the classes of Physics in the modality of education EJA (Education of Young and Adults) of a public school in the city of Águas Formosas - MG, from the methodology of Inquiry-based Science Education (IBSE). To find answers to this objective, we elaborate the following specific objectives: 1) To understand the importance of experimentation in Physics Teaching; 2) Verify students learning using experimental practices; 3) Identify the role of experimentation for learning physics from the stages of IBSE. Data collection consisted of the development of two activities with 18 students following the steps of the IBSE (1. Problematization and hypothesis survey, 2. Investigative Activity, 3. Conclusion and 4. Systematization) and the application of a questionnaire with seven open questions, to better analyze and understand students opinions about experimentation in Physics teaching. At the end of the data collection, analyzes were performed on each response from the Discursive Textual Analysis with elaboration of two categories: 1) Development of the IBSE; 2) The thinking of EJA students about IBSE. This work proved the importance of an experimental activity during the Physics classes, for a better understanding of the theoretical content and interest of the students. It was verified that the students of the EJA teaching modality are, for the most part, interested and questioning, despite the short time available for the study.
