Abstract

This article, a cut of a dissertation in a Professional Masters course, deals with the proposition and analysis of a pedagogical intervention in a Popular Education course preparatory to the National High School Examination, considering the contextualization of the chemical contents treated with emphases phenomena, representation and theorization (MORTIMER, MACHADO, ROMANELLI, 1999). In the teaching project entitled "Chemistry and Everyday Life in the Context of a Popular Education Course", 10 activities were developed in 30 classes, with the records kept in logbook. At the end of the project students were asked a questionnaire to express their expectations about the course in relation to what could have met their needs. The results point out that the students seek the course because they present gaps in relation to the high school knowledge, seeking to recover the "not learned" regarding contents and concepts of Chemistry, regarding the project, the evaluation was that the work with the content in a contextualized way, made the students have more interest and involvement with the activities, in relation to the non contextualized teaching that normally is carried out in preparatory courses.
