The study of discontinuity of matter and the conservation of non-observable properties: pathways built by junior high school students

O presente trabalho tem por objetivo a análise das mudanças conceituais realizadas por um grupo de estudantes, ingressantes do Ensino Médio, ao participarem de atividades organizadas para o estudo da descontinuidade da matéria e da conservação das propriedades não observáveis nas transformações, considerando distintas formas de representação, durante as aulas de química. Como estratégia metodológica, foi realizado um estudo de caso, com análise de conteúdo dos resultados. Os resultados mostram que a construção de conhecimentos perpassou desde a elaboração de modelos com distintos níveis de complexidade, que coexistem e são mobilizados de acordo com as problematizações propostas, estruturando-se como uma mistura de ideias entre teorias implícitas e teorias científicas, até a explicitação de teorias organizadas a partir dos modelos científicos abordados com o grupo de estudantes durante as aulas de química.
The present work aims at analyzing the conceptual changes carried out by a group of high school first year students after participating in organized activities to study the discontinuity of matter and the conservation of non-observable properties in transformations, considering different forms of representation. Case study was the methodological strategy adopted, with content analysis of the results. Results show that the construction of knowledge occurred from the elaboration of models with different levels of complexity, which coexist and are mobilized according to the problem-solving situations proposed, structuring themselves as a mix of ideas between implicit and scientific theories, to the explicit of theories organized from the scientific models discussed with the group of students during the chemistry classes.
