Conceptions of the teachers of Biological Sciences of subject regarding Health Education at schools

Ações de educação em saúde devem ser desenvolvidas nas escolas e são fundamentais para uma formação integral de crianças e de adolescentes. Nesse trabalho abordamos as concepções de professores de Ciências e de Biologia a respeito da Educação em Saúde na escola. Para a pesquisa, foi aplicado um questionário a professores de Ciência e de Biologia atuantes em escolas públicas e privadas de Brasília (DF) e da Região Administrativa de Brasília (DF). Em suas respostas, os professores demonstram ter pouca formação para trabalhar temas de Educação em Saúde em sala de aula e desconhecimento sobre a temática, apesar de considerá-la muito importante. As análises indicam que a discussão sobre o papel do professor de Ciências e de Biologia como educador em saúde na escola é urgente e necessária e que é essencial debater tal aspecto na formação inicial e continuada e na atuação desses profissionais.
Actions in Health Education must be developed at schools, and are fundamental for the integral training of children and adolescents. In this work, we approach to understanding of the teachers of Biological Sciences in order to work questions related to Health Education at schools. For the research, a questionnaire was administered to teachers of science and biology working in schools in Brasilia (DF). In their answers, the teachers show that they have a little training in the graduation course in order to work the thematic of Health Education, and ignorance on the subject, although consider it very important. The analyses show that the discussion about the role of the Sciences teachers as a health educator at schools is urgent and necessary, and that it is essential to question this aspect in the training of these professionals.
