Abstract

This work presents a study on sky observation that used the reflective teacher and the practical rationality framework in an Astronomy course offered to teachers. The data was obtained through interviews, accounts by the teachers and records from the classes and meetings. It is studied the relation between the accounts of sky observations and pedagogical practices by the participants and the development of the contents of the course. It is discussed the importance of the conjunctions of planets, noticed by the media at that time and worked during the course. The results show that these events allowed to some participants elaborate new strategies in their own pedagogical practices, shown by the reports. In this way, they reported that opened space in the program of their classes to suggest and make observations of the planets with their students. The participants have had changing of attitudes: reading astronomy articles in the newspaper, using Internet, increasing the interest and approach this science by other way. It concludes by showing that the participants, using some autonomy, introduced, creatively, astronomical contents in their pedagogical practice. It happens in situations named reflection-in-action, when the participants use their knowledge with some improvisation and adaptation to new situations.
