Use of didactic analogical model (MDA) in science education: an experience about the structure of the earth

Este artigo apresenta o desenvolvimento de uma sequência de aulas utilizando o Modelo Didático Analógico (MDA) com o intuito de contribuir na aprendizagem dos estudantes e promover a metacognição. O MDA é um modelo onde os alunos elaboram analogias, com o auxílio do professor, relacionando elementos do cotidiano e elementos da ciência escolar. Nesta sequência, estudantes de quinto ano do ensino fundamental utilizaram abacates como elementos do cotidiano e como elementos da ciência a estrutura da Terra. Os resultados permitem perceber que a utilização do MDA favoreceu a aprendizagem dos alunos, o que pode ser evidenciado nas relações estabelecidas entre o conteúdo da ciência escolar e os elementos do cotidiano, assim como nas explicações destas relações que demonstram o exercício da metacognição.
This text describes the use of a didactic sequence using the Didactic Analogic Model (MDA, in Portuguese) to contribute and promote the metacognition and learning of students from basic school. The MDA is a model where students can draw analogies with the aid of professor, and establish relationships between elements of everyday life and elements of scholar science. In our case the elements of everyday life were avocados and the elements of the scholar science were the structure of the earth. The results shows that the use of MDA favored students learning, which can be evidenced in the relations established between the scholarly contents and the elements of everyday life, and the explanations of these relationships, elaborated by the students that demonstrate the exercise of metacognition.
