Atomic theory in first-year high school students’ perception through the evaluation of drawing representation

O presente trabalho aborda uma pesquisa feita com alunos do primeiro ano do ensino médio de três instituições de ensino. Esta pesquisa foi feita com o intuito de analisar como os alunos estão concebendo as teorias atômicas e a idéia de modelo atômico. Será que de fato eles estão compreendendo o que venha a ser um átomo O desfecho está centrado na análise das respostas de todos os questionários, onde, além das perguntas a serem respondidas, foi pedido também que os alunos fizessem um desenho que representasse como eles visualizam o átomo. De posse desses dados, o trabalho foi então concluído atentando para os principais erros cometidos pelos alunos e, em consequência, notou-se uma predominância de determinada característica nas respostas de acordo com cada instituição.
This paper presents a survey of first year students from three high school educational institutions. This research was done in order to analyze how students are conceiving the idea of atomic theory and atomic model. Does the fact they are understanding what will be the outcome of an atom is centered in the analysis of responses from all questionnaires, where, beyond the questions to be answered, was also requested that the students do a drawing that represented how they view the atom. From these data, the work was then completed by attending to the main mistakes made by students and, consequently, it was noted a predominance of certain characteristic responses according to each institution.
