Conceptions of land of the elementary school students: which reveals a learning activity involving shadows

A presente pesquisa visa apresentar as concepções reveladas por alunos a respeito de como entendem o formato da Terra a partir do estudo da sombra, no decorrer da implementação de uma atividade de ensino envolvendo uma história problematizadora (HP). Trabalhamos com um grupo de 26 alunos do ensino fundamental, com a HP intitulada: Uma viagem luminosa às sombras. Ela é composta por um texto de ficção, vivido por personagens imaginários, que conduz o aluno a desvendar um problema. Os instrumentos de coleta foram as gravações em vídeos das falas dos alunos e os registros escritos. Quanto aos conhecimentos presentes, a pesquisa mostrou que os alunos buscam formas de encontrar respostas ao problema exposto na história e empregam modelos explicativos que pautam em concepções de Terra plana e estática, com o Sol girando em torno dela. Tais dados, além de revelarem como as concepções dos alunos são resistentes à mudanças, também mostram a dificuldade em se abordar a forma de nosso planeta a partir do estudo das sombras.
This research aims to present the concepts revealed by students about how they understand the format of the Earth from the shadow of the study, during the implementation of a learning activity involving a problematical history (HP). We work with a group of 26 elementary school students, with HP titled: A Journey to the luminous shadows. It consists of a piece of fiction, played by imaginary characters, who leads the student to solve a problem. The data collection instruments were recorded videos of the speeches and the students' written records. As for the present knowledge, the research showed that students look for ways to find answers to the problem exposed in the story and employ explanatory models that guide in conceptions of the earth flat and static, with the sun revolving around it. These data, and show how students' conceptions are resistant to change, also show the difficulty in addressing the shape of our planet from the study of the shadows.
