Differentiation and reconciliation of meanings produced by students in elementary schools in inquiry-based activities: an approach Ausubelian

O presente artigo apresenta as contribuições de uma atividade investigativa para o Ensino de Ciências relacionada a “visão” no aspecto lubrificação e proteção do olho. A pesquisa foi realizada com alunos do quinto ano do Ensino Fundamental, com intuito de verificar os significados elaborados por eles durante a realização de uma atividade investigativa, bem como a diferenciação desses significados durante a mesma. Por meio da análise, percebemos características propostas pelo National Research Council, tais como engajamento dos alunos, a priorização e explicações das evidências por meio dos registros dos alunos, a conexão das explicações ao conhecimento científico e a comunicação. Os significados produzidos pelos estudantes tornaram-se mais diferenciados, isto é, mais específicos em relação aos que foram identificados no início da atividade.
This article presents the contributions of an investigative activity for Science Teaching content-related to “vision” aspect in lubrication and protection of the eye. The research was conducted with fifth graders of elementary school in order to verify the meanings produced by them during the course of a research activity, as well as the differentiation of these meanings during activity. Through analysis, we find that characteristics proposed by the National Research Council, such as student engagement during activities, prioritization and explanations of the evidence through student records, connecting explanations to scientific knowledge and communication. The meanings produced by the students become more differentiated, that is more specific regarding which were identified initially activity.
