Ambiental education workshops: Solid waste problematic

No intuito de minimizar os transtornos decorrentes com o descarte incorreto dos resíduos sólidos e os prejuízos ambientais, desenvolveu-se um projeto com alunos de oitavas séries, de uma Escola Municipal de Araucária – Paraná, envolvendo essa temática. As duas etapas principais do projeto ocorreram em momentos distintos, porém, relacionados. No período regular de aulas, foram realizadas leituras, questionamentos e pequenos debates, no grande grupo. No contraturno escolar, denominado pequeno grupo, aconteceram oficinas de reutilização de embalagens, utilizando vidro, papel, metal e plástico; além de uma oficina de papel artesanal, focada na reciclagem em pequena escala. Nas oficinas, houve o envolvimento de todos, até mesmo dos alunos que pouco opinavam durante as aulas, pois se sentiram à vontade em participar e esclarecer dúvidas. Ao termino do projeto, constatou-se a mudança de atitudes nos alunos. Além de incorporarem novas expressões em seus vocabulários, tais como: sensibilização e resíduos sólidos, aprenderam a distinguir conceitos: separação, reutilização e reciclagem.
In order to minimize problems caused due to the incorrect disposal of solid waste and environmental damage, it has developed a project with eighth grade students from a Municipal School in Araucaria – PR, involving this issue. The two main stages of the project occurred at different moments, however, related. During regular classes, there were readings groups, discussion questions and small debates, with the large group. At the non-regular period, called small group, there were Packaging Reuse workshops, using glass, paper, metal and plastic; paper workshop, focusing on the small-scale recycling. During these workshops, there was involvement of everyone, even the ones with a lower level of participation, once that they felt comfortable to participate and clarify doubts. Upon completion of the project, there was a change in student’s attitudes. In addition, they incorporated new words into their vocabularies, such as: awareness and solid waste; learned to distinguish concepts: separation, reuse and recycling.
