Quarterly Activities: a Proposal of Small Research Projects in Physics Teaching

Trabalhos Trimestrais consistem em Pequenos Projetos de Pesquisa, desenvolvidos por grupos de 3 ou 4 alunos, durante um trimestre letivo. Esta metodologia de ensino inclui a elaboração de um Projeto de Pesquisa, a organização de um Caderno de Campo, a redação de um Relatório Final e a Apresentação dos resultados para os colegas. Neste trabalho apresentamos a teoria sócio-interacionista de Vygotsky como um referencial teórico apropriado para embasar a atividade e descrevemos em que consiste esta metodologia, que tem apresentado excelentes resultados na Fundação Escola Técnica Liberato Salzano Vieira da Cunha, em Novo Hamburgo, RS, onde é aplicada por professores de Física no ensino médio.
Quarterly Activities are class assignments consisting in carrying out a small research projects by groups of 3 or 4 students during a trimester of the school term. In this work we describe the basis of these activities, comprehending the elaboration of a research project, the organization of a research log, the writing of a final report, and an oral presentation to their classmates. Vygotsky´s theory of social interactionism is taken as the theoretical framework to support Quarterly Activities, which are being used with good results by the Physics teachers of the high school "Fundação Escola Técnica Liberato Salzano Vieira da Cunha", in Novo Hamburgo, RS, Brazil.
