CONHECIMENTO, PERCEPÇÃO E ENSINO SOBRE PLANTAS MEDICINAIS EM DUAS ESCOLAS PÚBLICAS NO MUNICÍPIO DE BENJAMIN CONSTANT - AM

Knowledge, perception and teaching on medicinal plants in two public schools in the municipality of Benjamin Constant-AM

Resumo

As plantas medicinais, assim como seus usos e indicações, fazem parte do saber das populações amazônicas. Este trabalho teve como objetivo conhecer os saberes tradicionais e a percepção de alunos do Ensino Fundamental sobre plantas medicinais. Participaram 60 alunos de uma escola da zona urbana e da zona rural. Aos alunos foram distribuídos questionários a respeito do conhecimento, representação social das plantas medicinais e inserção da temática em sala de aula. Em ambas as escolas mais de 50 % souberam explicar que as plantas medicinais são plantas que curam, descrevendo um total de 42 espécies de plantas medicinais. Os alunos manifestaram interesse na inserção do tema de plantas medicinais no currículo escolar de forma prática utilizando novas metodologias como aulas de campo e experimentação de receitas. Conclui-se que o futuro educacional embasado no estabelecimento de diálogo entre os saberes popular e científico promovem a inclusão de temas hoje considerados alternativos.

Abstract

Medicinal plants, as well as their uses and indications, are part of the knowledge of Amazon populations. This work had as objective to know the traditional knowledge and the perception of Elementary School students about medicinal plants. Sixty students from a school in the urban area and in the countryside participated. The students were given questionnaires about knowledge, social representation of medicinal plants and insertion of the theme in the classroom. In both schools more than 50% have been able to explain that medicinal plants are healing plants, describing a total of 42 species of medicinal plants. The students expressed interest in inserting the topic of medicinal plants in the school curriculum in a practical way using new methodologies such as field lessons and experimentation of recipes. It is concluded that the educational future based on the establishment of dialogue between popular and scientific knowledge promotes the inclusion of topics considered as alternatives.
