UMA COMPARAÇÃO ENTRE TEAM-BASED LEARNING E PEER-INSTRUCTION E AVALIAÇÃO DO POTENCIAL MOTIVACIONAL DE MÉTODOS ATIVOS EM TURMAS DE FÍSICA DO ENSINO MÉDIO

A comparison between team-based learning and peer-instruction and evaluation of the motivational potential of active methods in middle school physics

Abstract

In this work we present the results of a research developed in three classes of Integrated High School of the Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte - Campus Mossoró. The research aimed to compare the efficiency of two widely used active methods and, at last, to evaluate the motivational potential of these methodologies. In two of the classes, the teacher worked with the Team-Based Learning methodology. In the other, he applied the Peer-Instruction methodology. Before developing the proposal in the classroom, the teacher applied a pre-test in the three classes, where he showed that the three were at equivalent levels in relation to the content that would be worked (Energy and its Conservation). Work was then carried out in classrooms for two weeks, and a post-test was then applied. The results show that, in both groups, the Hake gain was lower than that reported for both methodologies in the literature. But in an internal comparison, the Peer-Instruction methodology generated a better result. As for the motivation, it can be noted from the data obtained with the Escala de Motivação: Atividades Didáticas de Física, that the motivational quality of the students tends to become more internal and autonomous when submitted to the active methods.
