Pedagogical practices in environmental education with elementary school students

Segundo os Par�metros Curriculares Nacionais a Educa��o Ambiental deve ser trabalhada nas escolas pelos professores de forma transversal e interdisciplinar, de tal maneira que os alunos possam entender sua complexidade. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar as pr�ticas pedag�gicas e seu uso na Educa��o Ambiental com alunos do Ensino Fundamental. Foi realizado em uma escola estadual da Zona Norte de Manaus. Os sujeitos participantes foram 25 alunos de uma turma do 5� ano do Ensino Fundamental e duas professoras. A pesquisa esta fundamentada em uma abordagem qualitativa. O estudo tem car�ter descritivo e usa a pesquisa de campo e documental. Para a coleta de dados, utilizou-se da observa��o participante, com registro no di�rio de campo, realiza��o de entrevistas semiestruturadas e atividades em sala de aula. Para an�lise dos dados optou-se pela an�lise de conte�do. As pr�ticas pedag�gicas utilizadas pelas professoras s�o limitadas e se fazem presentes apenas nas disciplinas de Ci�ncias e Geografia, evidenciando que tais pr�ticas n�o resultam na conscientiza��o ambiental dos alunos, e que os mesmos n�o desenvolveram valores e atitudes em rela��o aos problemas socioambientais presentes na sociedade.
According to the National Curricular Parameters, Environmental Education must be transversally and interdisciplinary addressed by teachers at school, thus the students could be able to understand its complexity. The objective of this work is to analyze pedagogical practices and applications in Environmental Education with elementary school students. This work was carried out at a State school in the Northern District of Manaus. For research subjects we had 25 students attending the 5th grade class and two female teachers. This research is based on a qualitative approach, with a descriptive study, using field and documentary research. For the data collection, the participant observation was used, with registration in the field diary, semi-structured interviews, and classroom activities. For data analysis we used content analysis. The pedagogical practices used by the teachers are limited and for Science and Geography teaching only, evidencing that such practices do not result in the students environmental awareness and they did not develop values and attitudes regarding the currently socio-environmental problems in our society.
