The investigative experimentation as didactic possibility in the teaching of Mathematics: The problem of forms in a Science Club

O presente estudo visa apresentar a experimenta��o investigativa como uma possibilidade did�tica na Educa��o Matem�tica. Para tanto, descrevemos uma sequ�ncia de ensino investigativo intitulada �Problema das Formas�, que buscava discutir os conceitos introdut�rios de �rea e per�metro de figuras planas, explorando quest�es ligadas a maximiza��o de �reas e minimiza��o de per�metros. A pesquisa se caracteriza como qualitativa, sendo desenvolvida no Clube de Ci�ncias �Prof. Dr. Cristovam W. P. Diniz�. O espa�o investigado � considerado um ambiente alternativo destinado ao ensino, pesquisa e extens�o de a��es did�ticas voltadas as Ci�ncias e Matem�ticas. A atividade seguiu as etapas pedag�gicas da experimenta��o investigativa, na qual participaram quatro alunos do quinto ano (Grupo 1) e tr�s do sexto ano (Grupo 2), totalizando sete sujeitos, sendo todos de escolas p�blicas, com idades variando entre 10 e 14 anos. Concebemos que, a partir da metodologia da experimenta��o investigativa, conseguimos propiciar um momento educativo diferenciado a nossos estudantes, no qual suas falas, concep��es e ideias foram valorizadas, contribuindo na constru��o do conhecimento matem�tico e na promo��o do pensamento independente e cr�tico-reflexivo desses discentes.
The present study aims to present the investigative experimentation as a didactic possibility in Mathematics education. Therefore, we describe a teaching sequence entitled "Problem of Forms", which sought to discuss the introductory concepts of area and perimeter of plane figures, exploring issues related to the maximization of areas and minimization of perimeters. The research is characterized as qualitative, being developed in a Science Club �Prof. Dr. Cristovam W. P. Diniz�. The space investigated is considered an alternative environment destined to the teaching, research and extension of didactic actions directed to Sciences and Mathematics. The activity followed the pedagogical stages of the investigative experimentation, in which four students from the fifth year (Group 1) and three from the sixth year (Group 2), totaling seven subjects, all from municipal or state public schools, ranging from 10 to 14 years old. We conceive that from the methodology of the investigative experimentation, we were able to provide an educational moment differentiated to our students, in which their speeches, conceptions and ideas were valued, contributing in the construction of mathematical knowledge and in the promotion of the independent and critical-reflexive thinking of these students.
