Inquiry in High School: Hydroponic Systems in a School Vegetable Garden for Discussion of Chemical Concepts

O tema soluções no ensino médio é considerado difícil por muitos estudantes, por haver uma valorização dos aspectos que envolvem cálculos matemáticos e aplicações de fórmulas em geral. Dessa forma, para compreensão dos conteúdos químicos, buscou-se trazer para sala de aula uma abordagem investigativa, que além de motivar os estudantes, permitisse uma conexão entre o conteúdo e a vivência deles. Nessa perspectiva, a sequência didática foi desenvolvida em uma escola que possui um projeto de horta escolar, usando o processo hidropônico para aplicação das aulas. Essas aulas contemplaram os aspectos qualitativos e quantitativos no preparo das soluções nutritivas utilizadas nesse processo. Acreditamos que essa abordagem favoreceu a compreensão do princípio envolvido nas medições do pH e da condutividade elétrica, que são controles realizados para o bom desenvolvimento da planta em hidroponia.
The topic of solutions in high school is considered to be difficult by many students, because there is an appreciation of the aspects that involve mathematical calculations and applications of formulas in general. Thus, to understand the chemicals concepts, an investigative approach has been applied in the classroom in order to motivate the students and allow a connection between these concepts and the possibility to experience them. From this perspective, the didactic sequence was developed in a school that has a vegetable garden project, which based itself on the hydroponic process to apply the classes. These classes contemplated the qualitative and quantitative aspects in the preparation of the nutrient solutions used in this process. We believe that this approach favored the understanding of the principle involved in pH and electrical conductivity measurements, which regulate the proper development of the plant in hydroponics.
