Chemical reactions in internet sharing: perception of students from the technique of controlled controversy

Este artigo traz os resultados de uma atividade inspirada na técnica controvérsia controlada realizada em aulas de química, com o objetivo principal de fomentar uma percepção crítica dos estudantes sobre a influência que a internet exerce na sociedade. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram alunos de um curso técnico de Controle Ambiental de uma instituição pública. Os recursos midiáticos usados para provocar reflexões entre estudantes foram dois vídeos disponíveis no site YouTube: um sobre o ataque em Aleppo com bomba de cloro e outro sobre orientações caseiras para se obter reações químicas explosivas. Um questionário individual foi aplicado com o objetivo de compreender o posicionamento prévio dos alunos, e, para conduzir as atividades, os alunos foram divididos em grupos de figuras sociais, para que assim eles pudessem discutir e apresentar seus posicionamentos sobre o livre compartilhamento de informações nas mídias. Os resultados demonstraram que atividade realizada foi bem aceita pela da turma, e que os vídeos usados contribuíram para construção cognitiva e reflexão dos estudantes no espaço escolar. A técnica da controvérsia controlada permite um ensino de química em uma perspectiva de formação cidadã, onde temas sociais podem ser discutidos no cotidiano da escola, com questões e problemas que muitas das vezes não são valorizados em aulas tradicionais.
This article presents the results of an activity inspired by controlled controversy technique carried out in chemistry classes, with the main objective of fomenting a critical perception of the students on the influence that the internet exerts in the society. The subjects of the research were students of a technical course of Environmental Control of a public institution. The media resources used to provoke reflections among students were two videos available on the YouTube site: one on the Aleppo attack with a chlorine bomb and the other on home orientations for explosive chemical reactions. An individual questionnaire was applied in order to understand the students prior positioning and, to conduct the activities, the students were divided into groups of social figures so that they could discuss and present their positions on the free sharing of information in the media. The results showed that the activity performed was well accepted by the class, and that the videos used contributed to the students cognitive construction and reflection in the school space. The technique of controlled controversy allows a teaching of chemistry in a perspective of citizen education, where social issues can be discussed in the daily life of the school, with questions and problems that are often not valued in traditional classes.
