Abstract

Young and Adult Education (EJA) is a modality of education that lacks an educational practice that adequated its public. This need becomes even more emphasized when we are faced with the Chemistry teaching. Faced with this reality, this research aimed at the elaboration of a didactic sequence with the purpose of approaching the disciplinary concepts from organic chemistry of the EJA students life experiences, this through activities developed with the theme medicinal plants. A total of 28 students from the Eixo Formativo VII (corresponding to the 3rd year of high school, in Brazil) participated in a state school educational network from the municipality of Piripiri-PI. The research was developed in three pedagogical moments: problematization, organization of knowledge and application of this knowledge. Two questionnaires were used as a data collection tool. From the analysis of the results obtained, both qualitative and quantitative, it can be observed that the proposed following teaching proved to be a good pedagogical tool to work the recognition of organic functions. It was concluded that the use of themes that are part of the students experience from the EJA to contextualize the Chemistry teaching linked to a methodology that favors the acquisition of knowledge, allows to arouse in the student the interest for the discipline, favoring a more meaningful learning.
