The process of constructing and using a potentially meaningful material aiming at the meaningful learning of the collisions topic: slides presentation and a virtual learning environment

A experiência relatada neste trabalho trata da construção e da aplicação de um material instrucional sobre o tópico Colisões, elaborado com o objetivo de promover o processo de aprendizagem significativa, utilizando as novas tecnologias da informação e da comunicação (TIC?s). Participou desse trabalho uma turma da primeira série do ensino médio, no segundo semestre de 2006, do Centro Educacional Dimensão, na cidade satélite do Guará, em Brasília, DF. Para o desenvolvimento dessa experiência nos fundamentamos nos resultados de pesquisas já realizadas na área e especialmente na teoria da aprendizagem significativa de David Ausubel. Fazem parte do material produzido uma série de aulas em slides e um conjunto de atividades que podem ser utilizadas em um ambiente virtual Moodle. Juntamente com a construção deste material foram produzidas algumas animações também visando facilitar o processo de aprendizagem significativa. Estas animações fazem parte de alguns slides e de atividades do ambiente virtual. O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de explorar a hipótese de que as novas tecnologias da informação e da comunicação, utilizadas como recurso instrucional, elaborado tendo em vista o processo da aprendizagem significativa, seriam capazes de viabilizar tal tipo de aprendizagem, de forma mais eficaz do que os recursos tradicionais. Os resultados encontrados, após a análise dos dados coletados por meio da aplicação de pré e pós teste e teste complementar de retenção, aplicado aos mesmos alunos um ano após o tratamento, nos permitem inferir que houve aprendizagem significativa. A receptividade dos alunos, analisada por meio de seus depoimentos, com relação ao novo material instrucional também foi considerada satisfatória.
The experience described in this paper deals with the construction and application of an instructional material about the topic Collisions prepared with the objective of promoting meaningful learning of it using new technologies of information and communication (TIC?s). Such experience was carried out with a group of first-year high school students during the second semester of 2006, in the Dimension Educational Center, of the satellite city of Guará, in Brasília, DF. The development of the experience was based on previous research findings and on David Ausubel?s meaningful learning theory. The instructional material was formed by a series of screen lessons and a set of activities that might be used in a Moodle virtual environment. Together with the construction of these materials some computer animations were also produced aiming at the facilitation of the meaningful learning process. These animations are part of some of the screen lessons as well as of some of the activities proposed in the virtual environment. The objective of this work was to explore the hypothesis that the new technologies of information and communication when used as instructional resource, taking into account the meaningful learning process, are able to facilitate this kind of learning in a more effective way than traditional materials. The findings resulting from the analysis of pre and posttest and of a retention test applied one year after the experience suggest the occurrence of meaningful learning. The students? receptivity to the new instructional materials as inferred from their written statements was also quite satisfactory.
